When I was in Middle School, it was incredibly rare for my friends to have cell phones. I received my first cell phone by accident because I won a radio competition, much to my parents' dismay. But now, it is incredibly rare for one of my students not to have a cell phone. Iphones and androids are in every purse and pocket of students and parents. So when I heard about a system at the beginning of the year called Remind 101, an anonymous text-messaging system that reminds students and parents about upcoming assignments and tasks, I thought this would be an amazing tool for my class. When a large assignment is due, I sign-in to remind and write a short text that is sent through an anonymous number to all the students and parents that are signed up. This text acts as a reminder and has helped me work with both parents and students to ensure preparedness and success. Remind 101 is a free service and sends an email to teachers when they get new members to make sure teachers are remaining informed. I strongly encourage you to improve your student and parental communication and use Remind 101!
